Level 89 is the 90th level of the Backrooms. The date of discovery is unknown.
First picture taken of Level 89
Description:
Level 89 is a large (precise measurement cannot be accomplished because of the nature of Level 89, but it is estimated to be about one million square miles) complex of oddly connected rooms. Those rooms resemble shops such as arts and crafts shops, electronics stores, mechanic shops, etc. The level is very unstable. That instability manifests as broken physics and local anomalies of space-time. In some areas of Level 89 rooms are looping, warping, stretching, and even merging together. Those combinations of rooms are called Abdominal Combination Shops. In Abdominal Combination shops there is a chance that some of the items from the first merged shop and some of the ones from the second shop will merge into new, nonexistent-in-our-reality tools (for example, a combination of shovel and chainsaw or a combination of flashlight and laser cutter). Those tools also can have unexpected anomalous properties.
Anomalous Tools
Some of Anomalous Tools by unknown means, have anomalous abilities that defy the laws of physics. Reports mentioned abilities such as an infinite power supply, generating a strong E.M.P. upon activation, generating strong X-ray radiation, generating a strong magnetic field, reversing the gravity of the tool and its user, bursting in flames upon activation, etc.
But often those Anomalous Tools are too unstable, so they become no-clipped upon any physical contact from anything that isn't part of the Abdominal Combination Shops. If that happens, then said tool will fall down through the floor with the acceleration of local gravity or any other force that can interact with the no-clipped object. It's theorized that those items can fall to other levels of the Backrooms, but that is pure speculation.
Entities
Level 89 is home to unique, dangerous entities, listed below:
Shocker
Shockers don't have a physical body. Its being is composed of an electromagnetically controlled current. To the naked eye, it looks like a very bright yellow, bluish, or pure white electric spark that is as high as the room that entity is in but never wider than one meter in every direction. It has the ability to travel through electrical wires, cables, or electrical circuits. It also has the "ability" to distort any electromagnetic signal, but it rather is a result of its nature (electrical sparks naturally emit EMP pulses). Being itself isn't aggressive but can cause a massive amount of damage unintentionally. If you bump into it, you will get third-degree burns, massive nervous system damage possibly resulting in paralysis of affected limbs or the whole body, and even death. If you do not die from massive shock, you will be turned into a Shocker Ghoul.
Voltopus
Voltopus are sentient electrical parts, wires, motors, etc. that vaguely resemble octopus-like creatures. It has the ability to levitate through rooms without any visible hindrance. Voltopus originates (probably) from the previously mentioned Anomalous Tools, but that is just an assumption. Voltopuses are unable to survive outside of Level 89 without an outside energy source such as batteries, electric cells, or accumulators. We know that because near the entrances and exits there can be found piles and piles of wires as well as electric components. If not disturbed It will scavenge shops for parts to "reproduce" and upgrade themselves. They are peculiarly interested in energy sources as well as radio parts. They are mostly neutral and will not disturb travelers, but if you have any electrical devices mentioned before, they will rush to steal them. That includes artificial organs and prostheses. If that were to happen, you would need to start strongly pulling one of its wires. It will leave after about 30 seconds of unsuccessful battle.
Shocker Ghoul
Shocker Ghouls are very complex and complicated entities; that is why they were given their own separate article. In the Backrooms, they are known as Entity 66.
Colonies And Outposts
There are no known colonies or outposts on this level; however, this level is often visited by the B.N.T.G. and lone explorers.
Entrances and Exits:
Entrances
To get to this level, you must simply find a no-clipped wall or floor on the previous level.
Exits
To exit Level 89, you need to find the previously mentioned Abdominal Combination Shops, and then you need to walk around and find a potential passage to Level 90 and further. However, because that room is so unstable, there is a chance that two no-clipped passages "spawn" on top of one another. If that were to happen, you would be sent to a random level (the range is estimated to be 25 levels in both directions).
